More than1,400 people visited Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, during its opening weekend over Easter.
Swimmers of all ages and abilities converged on the National Lido of Wales at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, for an action-packed time.
The mixed weather conditions did not deter visitors, with the fun starting at 7.30am each day with lane swimming for the more dedicated swimmers. This was followed by five 90-minute sessions daily, featuring casual swimming and activities, as well as lane swimming for all ages.
Lido Ponty will remain open until Sunday, April 10 and will open fully for the summer season from Saturday, May 28, until Sunday, September 11.

Admission to Lido Ponty is FREE for all ages during 2016. That’s right, it is free to swim at the National Lido of Wales.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “Although we had mixed weather over the Bank Holiday weekend, I am delighted that so many people from across Wales came along and had a fantastic time at Lido Ponty.
“It is the perfect place for a unique family day out - there is no other place like it in Wales.
“The National Lido of Wales will remain open for the rest of the Easter school holidays, so there is still plenty of time to come and join us with your family and friends and enjoy the heated pools and activities on offer before we open fully for our summer season in May.”
Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is the only facility of its kind in Wales and is Wales’ premier outdoor pool attraction and adventure play park.
A Grade II listed lido, it has three heated swimming pools (main pool, activity pool and splash pool) offering great opportunities for families, dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities.
Please note there will be a minimal charge of £2.50 per person for access to activities which include Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz.
Features at Lido Ponty include external and internal showers, heated indoor changing facilities, original wooden outdoor changing cubicles and a state-of-the-art Visitors’ Centre which tells the amazing story of The National Lido of Wales.
Lido Ponty is a result of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s amazing £6.3m restoration project, made possible with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, Heritage Lottery Fund and Cadw.
Lido Ponty is open to the public until Sunday, April 10. It will then be open fully for the 2016 summer season from Saturday, May 28, until Sunday, September 11.
