Residents and road users are advised about upcoming work on the A4058, just north of Hopkinstown – to improve resilience to flooding at this location.
The work will be undertaken while maintaining two-way traffic flow with narrowed lanes, but no traffic lights or road closures are required.
The Resilient Roads scheme will start on Monday, October 28, and will last around a month. It will be delivered by the RCT Streetcare Team.
The work will take place on the section of road to the north of A4058’s junction with Tymawr Road, and will install a large capacity gully structure on a low spot of the road.
Work will also upgrade six existing gully covers to improve capacity, remove an area of silt, and create a track on the highway verge to improve future maintenance access.
No traffic management is anticipated, while pedestrians will be diverted onto the grass verge while the large gully is being installed. Mats will be placed on the grass to improve this temporary access.
The scheme is being funded via Welsh Government’s Resilient Roads Fund for 2024/25.
