Storm drain replacement in Porth requiring local road closure

Hillcrest Drive in Porth

Residents are advised that a local road closure will be in place near Hillcrest Drive in Porth to replace a damaged storm drain and to construct a manhole.

The closure will be across 40-metres where Hillcrest Drive meets Kimberley Way, and is needed from Monday, June 24, for around two weeks.

The scheme has been informed by a CCTV survey, which carried out investigations following reports of flooding coming down the road.

The new storm drain will better manage water flows during periods of heavy rain, while the new manhole will enable better access for future surveying.

During the road closure, an alternative route for motorists will signposted via Wyndham Street, Gwaun Bedw and Kimberley Way – and this route in reverse order.

Access will not be maintained for emergency services, but will be maintained for pedestrians and to premises.

Cyclists should either dismount and take the pedestrians route, or follow the local diversion.

Thanks in advance to the community for your cooperation.
