Congratulations to those receiving their GCSE results!

GCSC-results-24

Year 11 learners across the County Borough have attended their schools this morning (Thursday, August 22) to receive their GCSE qualifications results.

Results Day is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from learners throughout their time in secondary school – and for schools, pupils and their families across Rhondda Cynon Taf, there is much to celebrate and be proud of.

There is continued support, advice and guidance for learners who are uncertain about their next steps – including from school staff and Careers Wales. We’ve included some useful links which might be of use at the bottom of this update.

Among those congratulating the successful students and school staff was Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Welsh Language, Councillor Rhys Lewis, and the Council’s Director of Education and Inclusion Services, Gaynor Davies, who has this morning sent a message of congratulations and thanks to all learners, school staff, and parents/carers.

Councillor Rhys Lewis, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Inclusion and the Welsh Language, said: “Congratulations to all learners in Rhondda Cynon Taf, who received their GCSE qualifications results this morning. Your excellent achievements are the result of hard work and perseverance throughout your secondary school years.

“It’s fantastic to see so many happy faces of students and staff members at our schools this morning. I’d like to wish all Year 11 learners the best of luck as you embark on the next part of your journey – whether that’s returning for sixth form, attending college, starting training, or entering the world of work.

“It’s also important to acknowledge that the successes of our learners could not have been achieved without our fantastic school staff and the wider school community – including parents and carers. Thank you for your dedication in supporting our young people every day.”

Gaynor Davies, Director of Education and Inclusion Services for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “We are immensely proud of our learners and what they’ve achieved this year. Our learners and fantastic education staff have worked tirelessly and this is reflected in the outcomes achieved today. The support provided by parents/carers has also been invaluable in securing positive outcomes. The atmosphere in our schools today reflects this very important milestone in a young person’s life and it has been a pleasure to witness this first hand. We have additional support available in our schools for those who didn’t achieve what they expected, and for those who are unsure of their next steps.”
