Each year there is a national campaign to encourage people who are eligible to take up their Influenza (flu) vaccine. Flu can be very serious. It is caused by a virus and can lead to illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia, which may need treatment in hospital. There are outbreaks of flu every winter, especially in hospitals and care homes. In the UK thousands of people die from flu related illnesses, according to the UK Government getting vaccinated against flu cuts the risk of being hospitalised with flu by a third in adults.
Having a flu vaccine every year is the best way to protect yourself, those you love and care for against flu. So please sign up for your free flu vaccine.
