Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, will remain open throughout October.

After a last week’s busy weekend, which saw more than 1,500 people taking to the waters over a two-day period, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has revealed details of an action-packed few weeks ahead.

From October 5 until October 24, Lido Ponty will be open from 7.30am to 6pm, seven-days-a-week, with a new revised timetable. The water temperature is also being increased for the remainder of the season.

During Half-Term (October 25 to November 1) Lido Ponty will be open from 7.30am until 5pm, with five sessions daily. Download the new timetable

Admission to Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is FREE to all visitors for the remainder of the 2015 season, with children under the age of 12 and an accompanying adult, who live in the County Borough, being able to access for FREE permanently.

Lido Ponty, currently open seven-days-a-week, has already attracted more than 18,000 visitors since it officially opened on August 24.

With its three heated pools – main pool, activity pool and splash pool – people are still flocking to the £6.3m outdoor swimming facility to enjoy the unique experience of an autumn swim in the great outdoors.

Set within Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in Pontypridd, Lido Ponty also has a sun terrace and patio, a fully-interactive Visitor Centre, function room available for private hire, indoor and outdoor changing facilities and its Waterside Café, offering hot and cold food and drinks.

Lido Ponty also incorporates Lido Play, a new and exciting childrens’ adventure play area, which will be open all year round.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “Our first season continues to be an enormous success, with our amazing new facility attracting more than 18,000 visitors so far – and we are still counting.

“Lido Ponty has firmly set the town of Pontypridd and our County Borough well and truly on the tourist map of Wales.

“By attracting thousands of people to the area in such a short space of time, the National Lido of Wales has not only helped boost the local economy but it has also raised the profile of the area greatly around Wales and beyond.

“We offer something for everyone at the National Lido of Wales, from lane swimming, relaxed swimming, fun inflatables to childrens’ activities.

“Our interactive Visitor Centre is also proving to be very popular, as is our Waterside Café.

“There is no other facility like it in the whole of Wales. We are so proud of it and would like to thank everyone who has visited us during our first season.”
