Fresh from the success of its Swim and See Santa event, the Council is delighted to announce that Lido Ponty will open once again for its next Festive Swim on Boxing Day.
The National Lido of Wales will open its doors at 8.30am on Saturday, December 26. Booking in advance is essential as places are limited. Call 01443 490490.
The water temperature will once again be set at a comfortable 30 Degrees. There will be lane swimming available, as well as the opportunity for a more relaxed swim with family and friends.
Come and enjoy an open-air swim at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in Pontypridd at this special time of year. It will be an unforgettable experience for all the family.
The Swim and See Santa event on December 12 attracted around 800 visitors to the National Lido of Wales.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “This is our first season at Lido Ponty and we are delighted to be open during the festive season following the positive feedback we received.
“We welcomed thousands of visitors to Lido Ponty in its opening 10 weeks, and that popularity has continued into December as we look ahead to a new year and a new season at the National Lido of Wales.
“There will be a special atmosphere for swimmers on Boxing Day as they enjoy the festive fun whilst swimming off the excesses of Christmas Day.”
Hundreds of people flocked to the National Lido of Wales to take part in the Swim and See Santa event. They were able to visit Father Christmas in his Grotto as well as enjoy an outdoor swim in the heated pools and also take part in ‘Come and Try’ taster sessions of canoeing, paddle boarding and sub aqua.
The day was rounded off with a poolside lantern parade and Christmas carol singing.
Come and join us at Lido Ponty on Boxing Day. It will be the perfect day out for all the family.
Admission is £4 for adults and £2.50 for Concessions (Under-16s and Over-60s).
