Living Landscapes

The Living Landscape Project aims to draw together a network of biodiversity rich and sustainably managed sites across RCT. The South Wales Valleys boast a huge diversity of species and habitats found close to where people live. The sites in the Living Landscape Project are nature hotspots and create stepping stones for biodiversity as well as being places where you can visit, enjoy and experience nature on your doorstep.

The project currently includes 44 sites located across RCT. For all of these sites, management for nature conservation and public enjoyment is the key focus. The sites range from cemetery and park meadows to SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) woodland and grassland, and all have something important to contribute to the network and help our wildlife move through the landscape.

When you visit a Living Landscape site look out for our interpretation boards. They will tell you more about the site, the species and habitats found there, as well as what you might see at different times of the year.
