Latest Staff Update 17/04/2020

Further to previous staff email communications, the Council’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) wish to update you on the current staff deployment exercise.

A substantial number of staff across the Council (outside of the identified essential services) have already completed the staff survey, and have indicated a preference on what alternative duties they would be prepared to undertake. This has enabled the Council to successfully deploy staff to a variety of service areas to build resilience there. These services include;

  • Social Care
  • Community Resilience Centres
  • Food Distribution Centre
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Contact Centre
  • Phone Call Service to vulnerable residents identified by the NHS

SLT also recognise that there will be many staff who have completed the staff survey, but have not as yet been contacted. Whilst we appreciate that you are anxious to assist and are grateful to you for that commitment, we would ask for you to be patient as you will be contacted at some point.

However if you have not completed the staff survey, or your circumstances have now changed (e.g. you may previously have been self-isolating), we would ask you to do so as a matter of urgency. This includes school based staff who are not currently being utilised within our school hubs. The survey can be completed here.

SLT would also like to formally acknowledge and give a thank you to the staff who have already agreed to work in Social Care in particular. This will assist the Council in supporting our social care colleagues who have been working in extremely challenging conditions but have continued to deliver an excellent service and our sincere thanks go to these social care staff, along with other key staff in refuse & cleansing, meals on wheels, the contact centre, community hubs and school hubs. This deployment is also helping the Council to further respond to the needs of our most vulnerable service users.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to remind managers and staff of the importance of keeping in contact with each other, wherever possible, to ensure everyone is coping as well as possible in these difficult times.

Please can you share with any staff that do not have access to email facilities.

Kind regards,

Senior Leadership Team
