Winter Welcome Centres

Following the recent Welsh Government announcement, that £1m of funding is being made available across Wales to support Warm Hubs, the Council is looking to create Winter Welcome Centres across the County Borough in a bid to help keep residents warm and safe throughout the cold winter months.

Residents of RCT are able to drop into any Library within the County Borough or Gilfach Goch Community Venue at 37-39 High Street, Gilfach Goch, CF39 8SR. Where they will be assured of a warm welcome, and a place to relax and recharge mobile devices. Activities and Winter warming items will also be available alongside a warming cup of tea and a snack in some venues.

Winter Welcome Centres are intended as places in local communities where people can find a safe, accessible and warm environment during the day.

The centres will look to offer;

• Refreshments and snacks (as a minimum) but may extend to a more substantive meal where relevant or possible.
• Advice and support services to those who attend, this can be for example advice and support on financial matters, health and well-being or digital accessibility.
• Activities such as exercise, or arts and cultural activity (subject to location and availability).

Each centres offering will vary. 

The Council is currently working in partnership with the public sector, voluntary sector and community partners to asses and understand local needs, existing provision and to design and deliver solutions across the County Borough.
