In Children’s Services we sometimes receive information from a range of different people including school (education), the police, health professionals and members of the public or yourself that suggest your child/children/ family need care and support additional to that provided by you and your family.
If we don’t think your needs can be met via early help because your child and family might need higher levels of support (for example if a child has a disability) then we have a legal duty to undertake an assessment. This is outlined in the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.
