Carers Week 2024: Putting Carers on the Map

Carers Week Logo

Carers week is an annual and national campaign that aims to raise awareness of the role of carers, as well as highlighting the challenges that many unpaid carers face while recognising the hard work and dedication that contributes towards families and communities across the UK.

The theme for Carers Week 2024 is Putting Carers on the Map, which means ensuring that we highlight the invaluable contributions that carers across the UK make to society and ensuring their voices are heard loud and clear.

To celebrate, the Council’s Carers Support Project will be hosting a range of events throughout the week to show appreciation for their hard work and commitment.

Neil Elliott, Director of Social Services at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “As we embark on Carers Week this year, it is important that we show unpaid carers the gratitude and recognition that they so deserve.

“RCT’s Carers Support Project has arranged a series of events throughout the week. These events have been carefully tailored towards our local unpaid carers, including our remarkable young carers aged 18-25 years.

“It is imperative that we acknowledge the invaluable contributions of carers within our community, and Carers Week provides us with an opportunity to spotlight their unwavering dedication, resilience, and the unique challenges that they navigate daily.”
