Residents can get FREE professional advice to help set up a 'micro-enterprise' to offer care at home to older and disabled people.
A micro-enterprise could be a small business or a self-employed person that offers care and support directly to those who need it. Micro-enterprises are then paid directly by those they provide care and support for.
In Rhondda Cynon Taf, we need micro-enterprises to support older and disabled people with personal care, meal preparation and daytime activities.
We are looking for passionate, caring people to come forward and offer care and support to their older and disabled neighbours.
Delivering care through a micro-enterprise allows you to care for people in your community, even people you know. It will also provide you with flexible working opportunities and a regular income.
The project is run by social enterprise Community Catalysts and funded by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
Councillor Gareth Caple, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: "We are delighted to support the Community Catalysts project. It is an excellent way to work flexible hours, earn money and provide a valuable service to those who need it the most.
"No previous experience of working in the care sector is necessary. We are looking for caring, compassionate people who want to make a positive difference in their community.
"Working closely with the Council's own Social Services, Community Catalysts are that extra support required to promote independent living in Rhondda Cynon Taf."
Heather Maling of Community Catalysts said: "For over ten years, we have supported people across the UK to get set up offering care and support as micro-enterprises.
"You don't need a professional background in care or know how to run a business, but you need to know what good care looks like.
"We are now looking for passionate and caring people who want to help their community, work flexibly, choose their hours, set a fair pay rate and run a quality service.
Sian Nowell, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Interim Service Director for care and support delivery, transformation and integration, said: "We are delighted to be working with Community Catalysts on this project. It will extend opportunities to meet people's needs for care and support.
"This project has a dual benefit. Firstly, it helps expand the local social care market, which is much needed. Secondly, it creates opportunities for budding entrepreneurs and flexible work opportunities for residents.
"We would encourage people interested in setting up a micro-enterprise to get in touch and seek FREE support from Community Catalysts."
