RCT - Sustainable Food Place

Who are we?

RCT Food Partnership LogoThe RCT Food Partnership is an award-winning dynamic network of organisations and individuals that are passionate about healthy, sustainable, and accessible food for all. The RCT Food Partnership pulls together members from community groups, public bodies and food businesses from all around the county. Our vision is that every person in Rhondda Cynon Taf has access to healthy, affordable food and that that food is good for the planet.

Sustainable Food Places is a UK wide organisation that is spearheading change in our current food systems and supports food networks across the UK. RCT Food Partnership was awarded Bronze status in November 2023 and is one of only 4 places to receive this award.

Sustainable Food Places

As a member of Sustainable Food Places there are six key issues that we are tackling:

  1. Taking a strategic and collaborative approach to good food governance
  2. Building Public awareness, active food citizenship and a local good food movement
  3. Tackling food poverty and diet related ill-health and increasing access to affordable healthy food
  4. Creating a vibrant, prosperous, and diverse sustainable food economy
  5. Transforming catering and procurement and revitalising local and sustainable food supply chains
  6. Tackling the climate and nature emergency through sustainable food and farming and an end to food waste

What does being part of the network mean?

The network provides links across the county to share best practice and build connections. We provide information on grant funding available from RCT Council and other funders that groups can access to develop their food services. We arrange quarterly network meetings that are open to all to hear about campaigns and events organised by the Partnership and partnership members. There are also two subgroups the RCT Growers Network and Pantry subgroups to bring together groups who are connected by similar models.

How can you get involved?
