Job Opportunities on Election Day

During Elections, the elections office on behalf of the Returning Officer employs many staff to work with us such as:-

  • Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks  at polling stations.  Responsible for the conduct of the ballot in each polling station.  On election day polling station staff are required to work from 6:30 am until after 10 pm without leaving the polling station
  • Counters to work to count votes either overnight following the election or the day after

Full training would be provided and you will be supported by experienced staff.  If you are employed by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council you would be granted the day (as long as approved by your Line Manager) and you would also be paid for carrying out this work on top of your normal salary (at the present time the fees have not been configured).

Minimum Requirements  In order to undertake election duties you must

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be entitled to work in the UK (in accordance with the provisions of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 06)

ANYONE EMPLOYED ON ANY ELECTION DUTIES MUST NOT WORK ON BEHALF OF A CANDIDATE OR CAMPAIGN ON BEHALF OF ANY CANDIDATE
