Pontypridd 3-16 School

The proposed investment will deliver around £15m improvements to the existing Pontypridd High School site – welcoming the current school’s pupils and pupils from Cilfynydd Primary by September 2024.

The new 3-16 school will be delivered as part of the Council’s £75.6m investment in brand new education facilities across Greater Pontypridd. It will be delivered jointly with Welsh Government, as part of its Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme. The development is subject to planning permission being received.

The project will create a brand new primary school area, aiming to achieve Net Zero carbon in operation. A new 3G sports pitch and Multi Use Games Area will be constructed on the wider school site. Elements of the current main school building will be refurbished, while the current school car park will be reconfigured.

The Council invited residents to find out more and have their say in a planning consultation process (March/April 2023), to inform the scheme before a planning application is formally submitted for consideration.
