Phase 4 of Tylorstown Landslip

Phase 4 of Tylorstown Landslip Remediation is the proposal to make the hillside and Upper Llanwonno Tip safer.

The proposed project is to move most of the tip material to the area of land to the rear of Old Smokey, to compact and landscape it, to regrade the remaining material on the hillside and install drainage to manage the water flows.

This will restore the hillside to a safer state and with the careful management and monitoring of the re-establishment of vegetation on the Receptor Site, and remaining tip site, will further the practical understanding of the challenges and best-practice measures associated with re-vegetating stabilised colliery material and provide a timely case-study of how to better manage and promote Valleys’ habitats in the future, for the wider benefit of similar scenarios in the country.

Residents can take part in the engagement exercise from Wednesday 05 January 2022 to an extended date of Wednesday 16 February 2022. This will be a Pre-Application Consultation process, so all feedback will be considered to help shape the final planning submission, for formal consideration.
