The techniques most commonly used are Property Flood Resilience and Property Flood Resistance measures.

Property Flood Resilience

Property Flood Resilience is all about reducing the impacts of flooding, should water get inside your property. The aim is to ensure that damage is minimised, and you can get back into your home or business as quickly as possible.

Property Flood Resilience measures should be tailored to each property or business and include raising electrical sockets and fitting solid floors or tiled floor covering and taking simple steps during a flood event such as moving furniture and valuable possessions upstairs.

Property Flood Resistance

Property Flood Resistance is about reducing the risk of water getting into a property. These measures can allow you time to move possessions from ground level as well as to get people to a place of safety if a flood is expected.

Property Flood Resistance measures involve preventing or slowing the flow of water entering your propertyin the first place and they use a combination of products that range from expandable flood barriers, air brick covers, pumps, toilet bungs and non-return valves.
