Occupational health nurses and Doctors

Occupational health nurses and Doctors

Our occupational health nurses and Doctors are all registered nurses/ doctors who specialise in managing our employee’s health and wellbeing in the workplace- they are here to help employees.

These health professionals are able to assess:

  • Your ability to work
  • The potential impact a medical condition may have on your ability to carry out your work duties
  • Time scales that you are likely to return to work if you are on sickness absence
  • Whether any workplace adjustments need to be considered
  • Make recommendations of workplace adjustments

They can also signpost or refer you to other health services if needed.

What can I expect during my appointment with the nurse?

You can be referred to one of our doctors or nurses by HR or your manager, as a result of a health issue you disclose or because you are absent due to sickness.

Appointments can be carried out via telephone or face to face and last approximately 1 hour.

Appointments are completely confidential and no information will be shared without your consent.

During the initial appointment, the health professional will ask you questions in order to gain understanding of your overall health and wellbeing.

Based on the discussion you have together, they will then create a report which will contain an overall health overview relating to your work duties. It may contain any recommendations that should be considered in order for you to be able to carry out your work duties effectively and safely. This is for your manager and the HR team to view so they have a sound understanding of your needs. Please note, the report will ONLY be shared with your consent, and with the individuals you choose it to be shared with, and you will have the option to view the report before it gets shared with anyone else.
