Tramroad-Trail-Box

Follow the route of Dr. Richard Griffiths's Tramroad - a route built in 1809 to link the first coal mines in the Rhondda Valley with the Glamorganshire Canal and industry in Pontypridd.

The walk will lead you through the lovely Barry Sidings Countryside Park with key points of interest including the Hetty Engine House and Capel Rhondda where our famous hymn 'Cwm Rhondda' was composed by John Hughes.

The 3.2km linear walk can be started from either the Welsh Mining Experience Car Park (CF37 2NP) or Sardis Road Car Park (CF37 1LE) and takes approximately 1 hour to complete. For a great afternoon out start with a tour of the Welsh Mining Experience, enjoy a freakshake at Barry Sidings Cafe en-route and finish off with a browse around Pontypridd Town to finish.
