Darran Park, Beech Street, Ferndale, CF40 1LA
The park is an Edwardian Park which contains the lake Llyn y Forwyn (Maiden's pool) which is famed in welsh legend.
The Park has towering cliffs which oversee the ancient woodland around. There are a number of paths, with a recreation area and a play area plus plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic.
Open from 9am to 9pm, the park offers trails from which you can enjoy spectacular views over the Rhondda Fach, including the famed "Old Smokey" which is now a favourite location with outdoor enthusiasts but is actual a monument to our mining heritage.
If you wish to fish in the lake, you must secure a rod license or general rivers license from Natural Resource Wales. You can do this in 22-24 High Street, Ferndale (opposite Gregg's).
