Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Leisure for Life team needs people to show their support for “ace” gym instructor James Piper and his son, Dylan, as they battle for a place in the Britain’s Got Talent final.
The Aberdare-based magicians will take to the stage in front of the nation on this Saturday’s live semi-finals. They secured their spot thanks to a series of unique and emotional performances – which moved the show’s guru and head judge Simon Cowell to tears.
Following their performance on Saturday, it will be down to the public vote as to who competes in the final – and Leisure for Life want to see their star performer make it all the way and is urging people to make sure they cast their votes for the local act.
James is a casual fitness instructor who works at the nine Leisure for Life centres across Rhondda Cynon Taf, although he spends a lot of his time at Sobell Leisure Centre in Aberdare.
He has also been a magician for the last 20 years and, with his son Dylan – who is one of twins – has stolen the nation’s hearts with moving performances that are very different from your traditional card tricks and rabbits out of hats.
Their memorable audition was a stunning performance involving Simon Cowell and his son Eric and moved all the judges – including famously stone-faced Simon – to tears.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: “We think all of our Leisure for Life staff are magic and we know they have transformed the lives of thousands of customers over the years. James takes this to a new level though.
“We know so many of our customers and followers are already huge fans of mobile phone APPs – because thousands of them have downloaded and are using the free Leisure for Life APP to get the latest information on classes and leisure centres and book their gym, swim and fitness class sessions.
“We want them to try a different kind of APP this weekend and use the Britain’s Got Talent APP – and the five free votes you get with it – to send James and Dylan Piper to the finals and one step closer to realising a life-long dream.”
