After school clubs

After school clubs are traditionally run in schools and are regarded as an extra-curricular activity to support learning and attendance, not formal childcare.

After school clubs may incorporate activities such as gardening clubs, craft clubs and subjects such as Maths, Reading and Writing. After school clubs are run by each school and can also be run by external organisations.

Many childminders and nurseries provide care after the school day.
