Llanilltud Faerdref Primary School

The project will provide a new school building with state-of-the art facilities to replace the existing Llanilltud Faerdref Primary School buildings. The new facilities will be located on the existing school site.

In December 2022, Welsh Government confirmed its contribution to this project which will be funded via the Mutual Investment Model (MIM). MIM is the revenue funding stream of Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme.

The investment will deliver a single-storey new build, which will target Net Zero Carbon in operation. It will replace the current accommodation including temporary classrooms, which are in poor condition. The new building, due to be delivered in spring 2024 by Morgan Sindall Construction, will accommodate 240 pupils and 30 nursery places.

The new development will provide a vibrant 21st Century learning environment for staff and pupils, while some of the facilities will also be available to be enjoyed by the wider community. Externally, the development will include a two-court Multi Use Games Area, a new playing field and a car park.

A consultation which ran between October and November 2021 provided residents with an opportunity to find out more and have their say.

The project received full planning permission from the Council’s Planning and Development Committee in March 2022.
