Latest Staff Update 07/05/2020

This weekend the Prime Minister is going to set out the Government’s plan to begin to ease the lockdown restrictions imposed on us all seven weeks or so ago. Whatever the changes the Prime Minister will propose, we can guarantee that social distancing is going to remain as an essential part of our lives for the foreseeable future until a vaccine can be found or the virus can be treated.

As a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) we are considering the options to begin to phase the reopening of services and offices over the coming weeks, once the Prime Minister has set out the Government’s plan.

To contain the virus and protect lives, our preferred approach is to encourage those staff that can work from home to continue to do so. Working from home could be quantified as one day a week or range up to 5 days a week, depending on your role. We also recognise that we may need to better equip staff with suitable desks and chairs (possibly collapsible) and new meeting technology such as Teams and Zoom to enable staff to engage with their teams and with people in other organisations.

To help SLT plan for the phased reopening of services and offices, we would be very grateful if you could complete the attached anonymous survey. Please be honest and share your views on home working. This information will be fundamental for the Council to adequately plan how it phases the reopening of services and ensures that staff are supported to stay safe and be able to undertake the role to which they are employed.

Working from Home Staff Survey (the survey will close 5pm Friday 22nd May)

As another week draws to a close, I wish to thank you for your ongoing contribution to Rhondda Cynon Taf’s response to Covid-19. Stay safe, stay at home if you’re not working, and enjoy the weekend.

Regards,

Chris,

Chief Executive
