A parent/ carer can make direct contact with the Information, Advice and Assistance team by telephoning 01443 425006. You will be asked questions to determine who would be best to support your child.
This could be a referral to CANS (Children with Additional Needs Service) or a referral for an eligibility assessment to be undertaken by the Disabled Children's Assessment Team.
Professionals can also refer into the service on your behalf for example health visitors, teachers or a doctor. If the referral is for support, the professional will have gained your permission. Or if it’s because they have concerns about your child’s safety, you should know they are going to call (except in very exceptional circumstances).
