Direct payments for care

Direct Payments are cash payments instead of services, which the service user, carer, child, young person, or family have been assessed as needing by us. They are designed to give people control and flexibility in the way that their care needs are met.

If your child has been assessed as eligible (suitable) to receive a service from disabled children’s teams and clear care and support needs has been identified, Direct Payments can be explored to help your child to gain greater independence in their life. They are designed to give you flexibility to meet your child’s care and support need by offering more choice and control over the services they receive. With Direct Payments: You choose who provides the care to meet your needs and You control when services are delivered.
